- Analysis
- Boston offers the stronger overall profile at a price that requires only a victory. The Bruins average 3.8 goals while allowing 2.2 per game, compared with St. Louis’ 2.9 scored and 3.1 surrendered. That separation reflects advantages at both ends rather than dependence on one scorer or a favorable recent result.
The Bruins’ scoring differential works out to approximately plus-1.6 goals per game, while the Blues sit slightly underwater at minus-0.2. That is a meaningful distinction when the market prices these teams close to even. Boston has demonstrated more ways to build a lead and a stronger ability to protect one.
Jeremy Swayman’s confirmed start strengthens the case. He enters 7-2-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. Boston also has no reported injuries, preserving its available depth. Swayman’s performance gives the Bruins a credible answer when their own attack encounters resistance, particularly during stretches when St. Louis generates sustained pressure.
Joel Hofer remains likely for St. Louis and deserves respect. The Blues also generated 46 shots in Tuesday’s shutout loss, making their scoring drought a potential trap for anyone assuming their offense has disappeared. Shot volume creates opportunities, and Boston cannot afford repeated turnovers or unnecessary penalties.
That counterargument is precisely why I prefer the moneyline over asking Boston to cover a puck line. Hofer can keep this competitive, and St. Louis could rediscover its finishing touch without invalidating the Bruins’ broader advantage. A tight game still leaves Boston positioned to cash.
The central question is whether the Bruins deserve to win this matchup more often than a near-even price suggests. Their stronger scoring output, substantially better goals-against average and confirmed No. 1 goalie support that judgment.
Boston is my top play because the recommendation rests on several complementary strengths. Back the Bruins at a very cheap price.
