Meanwhile, there's some strife in the Charlotte locker room as Naz Reid was benched during Wednesday's 97-89 loss in Detroit. Washington lost 121-111 in Cleveland Wednesday night. I had the Cavs -10, but was lucky to push as the game was tied going into the fourth quarter. In fact, the Wizards led by as many as 13 points in the first half. They only shot 25% from three for the game. I expect better shooting at home tonight.

I had my Atlantic Division Game of the Month on Brooklyn in that game, and I like Brooklyn again here. Since 1990, winless teams that are installed as a home underdog of +7.5 or more points are 49-30 ATS, including 14-4 ATS if they were off an ATS win. Brooklyn is also 86-56 ATS vs. foes off a SU/ATS win when priced from +3.5 to +12 points. And the Pistons are 54-80 ATS following a win by 8 or more points. I’ll take the home underdog Nets. Of course, Calgary's four-game winning streak did come to an end on Wednesday in Edmonton. Not only that but the Flames lost goaltender Devin Cooley to an injury in that contest. He was a big part of their recent surge. The Kraken delivered a 5-4 win over Toronto two nights ago and have won three of their last four games. They're already 2-0 against the Flames this season, outscoring them by a wide margin of 12-2 in those two contests. Take Seattle (8*).

My selection is on the 'under' between Wisconsin and Iowa at 12 noon et on Saturday. Sometimes the oddsmakers can't set a total low (or high) enough and I think that's the case here as the Badgers and Hawkeyes do battle in early action on Saturday. Wisconsin has shown some positive flashes offensively this season but generally struggles against good defensive opponents, and Iowa certainly qualifies as that. Wisconsin did win 24-7 against USC last week but gained only 3.5 yards per play so that result was a little misleading. Defensively, the Badgers have been on point lately, holding four of their last five opponents to 3.6 yards per play or less. Iowa is trending in the right direction defensively again after limiting Minnesota to 3.4 yards per play in a tough 13-10 road loss last week. After getting off to a hot start to the season offensively, the Hawkeyes have been limited to 4.8 ypp in three of their last four contests. Take the under (8*).

That win moved the Cardinal to 4-4 on the season, however all of their wins have come at home vs teams all ranked outside the top 70 in our power ratings (Hawaii, Ga Tech, Elon, and NC State). Now they go on the road where they’ve been smoked 3 times this season. This will also be their 4th trip to the eastern time zone since September 19th and playing a motivated and rested Louisville team. The Cardinals (not Cardinal) will be motivated here after losing last year @ Stanford by 3 points as a 20.5 point favorite. Now we’re getting them at home at nearly the same number. Stanford’s 3 road games vs Duke, Wake Forest, and Notre Dame were all blowout losses by a combined score of 150 to 17! They lost all of those games by at least 28 points. They’ve now lost 14 straight road games dating back to September of 2024. Stanford has now made 7 trips to the eastern time zone since the start of last season and they’ve lost 6 of those games by at least 24 points (0-7 SU and 1-6 ATS in those games). Louisville’s offense ranks 3rd in the country averaging 7.7 YPP. They are facing a Stanford defense that 443 YPG (132nd nationally) on 6.4 YPP (128th). On the road that defense is allowing a ridiculous 529 YPG on 7.5 YPP. The Louisville offense, who averages 43 PPG at home this season, should be able to name their score here. Can Stanford keep up? We don’t think so. Their offense isn’t very good overall ranking 107th on total offense and 112th in YPP offense and they’ve only scored a total of 17 points in 3 road games as we mentioned above. This has the makings of a blowout and we’ll lay it with Louisville.

The Beavers have averaged 51 PPG during this win streak and are off a bye, going to Fresno State this week. I do think this is a good time to sell on them. The teams that Oregon State have beaten are really weak. The next two weeks, they have Texas State and Boise State, games the players and coaching staff may be looking ahead to. Fresno State won't be looking ahead to anybody. They too are off a bye, but before that dropped back to back games, including one as 6.5-point road favorites at San Diego State.Free newsletter
