Analysis: My selection is on Dallas over Montreal at 8:05 pm et on Thursday. The Canadiens have reeled off three straight low-scoring victories to open their four-game road trip that wraps up in Dallas on Thursday. I look for Montreal to get caught in this spot as the Stars try to get back on track after having their five-game winning streak snapped last time out. Dallas was in a tough spot at home against New Jersey two nights ago as they were fresh off a 6-3 rout of the Islanders two nights early and the Devils had an emotional boost from newly-acquired Connor Hellebuyck playing his first game with his new team (much earlier than anticipated). I'm confident we'll see the Stars rebound here, noting also they had backup goaltender Casey Desmith between the pipes on Tuesday. Jake Oettinger has been terrific, allowing two goals or less in seven of his nine starts this season. We may see Jakub Dobes between the pipes for Montreal after Jacob Fowler was in goal for the first three games of this trip. Fowler has been the much better option this season with Dobes struggling to regain the form that saw him help the Habs immensely on their playoff run last season. Take Dallas (8*).
