Analysis
Golden State Valkyries at Atlanta Dream - WNBA Finals Game 6, and the under case is built on five games of evidence, not just one low-scoring night. Four of the five games in this series have gone under, both teams are averaging under 72 points per game in the Finals, and Golden State has scored 68 or fewer in four of the five games, never topping 71. The shooting numbers explain why: Golden State's effective field goal percentage is just 40.5 percent for the series and Atlanta's is 40.8 percent, a massive drop from both teams shooting well over 49 percent in that measure during the regular season. Game 5 was the extreme version of the same pattern, with Golden State winning 64-55 for just 119 combined points and a 25-22 halftime score that was the lowest-scoring first half in WNBA Finals history. Atlanta shot 29.2 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three, turned it over 17 times, and got only seven points from Angel Reese on 2-of-8 shooting, while Golden State shot just 39.3 percent itself and needed Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton to combine for 26 points, 16 rebounds, and seven blocks to grind it out. Both teams finished in the top four in defensive rating during the regular season, Atlanta is without Brionna Jones for the season, and the early 9:30 a.m. PT tip with no shootaround only adds to the sluggish-offense setup. This series has been physical, shot-blocking heavy, and turnover-filled, and nothing in the last two games suggests a sudden shootout in a clincher. Jim's Play: 603. Valkyries / Dream Under
