Analysis
#109 ASA PLAY ON Carolina Panthers +4 over Green Bay Packers, Thursday at 8:15 PM ET Both of these teams are off losses last weekend with Carolina getting rolled at home by Tampa Bay, while Green Bay lost a nailbiter in OT @ Detroit. The Panthers have been lights out in this spot covering 13 in a row the game following a SU loss and when they are a dog in that next game they’ve covered 15 straight. They are also 19-7 ATS overall as an underdog dating back to November 2024. Despite the fact that GB lost in OT @ Detroit last week, they were outplayed rather significantly in the stat sheet. The Lions were +1.3 YPP and outgained the Packers by 90 yards. Detroit was minus in the turnover margin (-1) and still won the game. Green Bay came out of that game with a massive injury report. Their offensive line could be missing 3 starters this week and they are down to their 3rd string center who had never played center and never played in an NFL game until coming in last week due to the injuries. Their D Line has 3 guys out that were expected to be big time contributors and 2 more were injured last week and are questionable. On top of that, one of their top 2 WR Matthew Golden may not play this week. Tough spot bouncing back with all of those injuries after a physically and emotionally draining division game. Carolina is in a different spot because they were embarrassed at home (43-13) as a favorite and that game was over by halftime. While Tampa held the overall yardage and YPP numbers, they weren’t drastically different. The difference was 4 turnovers for Carolina which turned into nearly half of Tampa’s points. The Bucs took advantage of Carolina’s defensive weakness which is stopping the run. Can GB do that? We’re not so sure as they rank dead last in rushing (60 YPG) and simply haven’t been able to run on anyone all season not topping 86 rushing yards in any game this year. The strength of Carolina’s defense is vs the pass (6th) which plays right into what the Packers want to do offensively (6th in pass attempts per game). Carolina has the better YPG and the YPP margins are dead even. Dogs have been money this season in prime time games going 15-6-1 ATS. Let’s take Carolina.
