- Analysis
- Favorites (Chicago, Seattle & Dallas) swept the NFL primetime slate in Week 7. But let us not forget the run primetime underdogs were on preceding that: 12-0 ATS and 11-1 straight up! Carolina is the underdog this Thursday in Green Bay. Both teams are looking to pick up the pieces following disappointing losses on Sunday. Carolina got blown out at home by 43-13 by Tampa Bay. The defense held a returning Baker Mayfield to only 64 yards passing, but got gashed for 258 yards on the ground. The Panthers' D has now allowed the two highest single-game rushing totals in the NFL this season (allowed 291 to Chicago in Week 1). But what makes Green Bay an ideal matchup is that the Packers rank dead last in the league in rushing yards (59.9 per game). The Pack just suffered a penalty-filled loss to the Lions, in Detroit. Besides Dallas, Green Bay's other wins this season have come against two backup QBs (Bears, Bucs) and the Jets in OT. I like Carolina's offense to bounce back from last week's debacle. Going into Week 7, the Panthers were fourth in the league in scoring and QB Bryce Young was #1 in passing yards per game! Last week's final score was a clear byproduct of Carolina being -4 in turnovers. More importantly here, the Panthers are 13-0 ATS the L13 times they've been off a SU loss. The Packers are just 1-7-1 ATS in that role over the same time frame. The GB kicking game has become a massive problem for them as well and could end up being the difference for them (again).
