- The Broncos are coming into this game off of a 14-3 season and won the AFC West. They went all the way to the AFC Championship, losing to the Patriots without their starting QB, but Bo Nix will be healthy for this game and they had one of the better defenses in the league last season as well, averaging 18.3 points allowed per game which was 3rd in the NFL. They are returning a lot of those players as well, so their defense is going to be just as good and they are going to help carry this Broncos team. They are going up against a Chiefs team that is coming off of a 6-11 season and missed the playoffs. They were not good last season and lost Patrick Mahomes halfway through the season, but they were struggling even when they were healthy. The offense has been struggling a lot over the last 2 seasons as well and they are lacking a lot of talent on that side of the ball. Kelce has been in decline over the last 2 seasons, especially with his effort when it comes to blocking, and they do not have a lot of quality receivers that have proven themselves in this league. They did pick up Kenneth Walker, but they have not been a strong team in the run game and there is going to be a lot of pressure on Mahomes to make plays in this 1st game back from injury. The defense has also been a key piece to this Chiefs team over the last few years as they had one of the better defenses in the league and that has really been carrying them, but now they have lost a lot of quality on that defense and are not going to be as good on that side of the ball. The Broncos have the much better defense here which will be the difference in this game. The Broncos will cover the spread in this game.
