- The Arizona offense has been among the most productive in baseball since the All-Star Break, including batting .284 with 5.7 runs per nine in the past 10 games vs. right-handers. Arizona had yesterday off but the Diamondbacks have scored six or more runs six times in the past 10 games, now sitting in a NL wild card position. Arizona’s pitching has been questionable however and rookie Mitch Bratt is difficult to count on. In four MLB starts he owns a higher BB/9 than K/9 and his ERA is 6.32 with an even higher 7.45 FIP. Cleveland is 22-15 vs. left-handed starters this season and while the Guardians have not been a reliable scoring team, Cleveland has posted five or more runs in five of its past 10 games. Tanner Bibee had a step back season last year and things have gotten even worse in 2026 as Bibee’s promising career start in 2023 and 2024 has fallen off pace. Bibee’s K/9 is below 7.0 this season and his home run rate has now climbed in three straight seasons. His FIP of 4.57 is nearly a run higher than his respectable ERA and he has worse splits at home this season while holding a 4.76 ERA in July with opposing hitters batting .295 against him. Cleveland has a reputation for a great bullpen but the results since the All-Star Break have been average while Arizona’ bullpen continues to be a problem spot, including a 6.25 ERA in the past 10 games with a 1.50 WHIP. Both teams lean ‘under’ for the season and the bullpens are reset with an off-day Thursday, but it will be hot with minimal wind at Progressive Field tonight and this pairing should lead to scoring chances both ways.
