Analysis
Washington enters Friday with a 32-21 road record, tied for the second-best mark in Major League Baseball. The Nats hand the ball to Foster Griffin, who has been outstanding no matter where he’s pitched. Over his last nine starts, Griffin has surrendered just 10 earned runs, 51 base runners, and given up only four home runs across 57 innings of work. Atlanta’s Bryce Elder has cooled off considerably. Over his last six starts, he's posted a 7.76 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, and he's allowing 3.41 home runs per nine innings. Elder hasn't looked like the same pitcher we saw during the first two months of the season. Offensively, Washington has thrived on the road against righthanded pitching, while Atlanta has been no better than average in most metrics at home versus lefthanders. I'm betting the Nationals improve to 18-4 when Foster Griffin starts. I’m on Washington. Thanks and best of luck! JB.
