Averaging just over four innings per start this month, Erick Fedde probably won't pitch too far into this game. While I haven't been unimpressed, I also haven't been mind blown by his stuff. He's 3-5 this season on the road with a 5.40 ERA in those games this season. Now, he takes on one of the best opponents in the American League.
On the other hand, Tampa Bay will come with Nick Martinez in the series opener. Both of these teams played yesterday, so no rest advantage here. Martinez has quietly been one of the most consistent arms in all of baseball with a dominant 10-2 record on the year (2.45 ERA.) Allowing one run over his two starts since the all-star game, Martinez should be able to shut down CWS as well. Hammer TB.
