LSU vs Kentucky Prediction

The current betting odds have Kentucky listed as an 8.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Kentucky has looked good in their games this season with their 4-1 record overall and their 2-1 conference record which has them in the top half of the SEC. They have looked good on their home field too with their 2-1 home record this season. Meanwhile, LSU has looked good in their games this season with their 4-1 record overall and their 1-1 conference record which has them right in the middle of the SEC. They haven't been a great road team though with their 0-1 road record this year. LSU is coming off a 63-14 win over McNeese State in their last one and they have looked great at home this year with some blow out wins, but they looked very different in their only road game. That was their biggest challenge of the season and they failed, losing in Lane Kiffin's return to Ole Miss. They still have a ton of talent on their team and they do have the potential to be one of the best teams in the SEC, but Kentucky has also made some big strides this year with their new head coach. Their only loss was a bad one against Alabama, but they hung around in that game for a while before Alabama blew it open in the 4th quarter. Now they have won 2 games in a row and they have a ton of momentum on their side with both of those wins being upset wins. They are coming off a 35-34 win over South Carolina and managed to come back after being down by double digits. Kentucky definitely has an offense that can put up points at home and LSU hasn't really challenged yet other than their 1 road loss to Ole Miss. LSU should still get the win here, but Kentucky has the talent with this new head coach to keep this game tight at home. The best way to place a bet here is on Kentucky to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“Outside of a few plays late I thought our guys played really well. I know you are supposed to win these games big, but it doesn’t always happen. I thought our guys responded well particularly coming out of the locker room and played well in the third quarter. It was good to see a lot of guys make plays.” - Lane Kiffin after his team’s win against McNeese State in their last game.

“We’re not perfect by any means. We’ve still got a lot of growth to do throughout the course of this season, but I do know our guys are the right people. They have the right mindset and makeup to go win football games in this league. So again, we got to continue to improve and embrace this grind. That is the SEC, but I know my guys fight.” - Will Stein after his team’s win against South Carolina in their last game.
