Ravens vs Colts Prediction

The current betting odds have the Ravens listed as a 3.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Ravens had an 8-9 record overall last season and that season was a disaster by their standards, being one of the Super Bowl favorites over the last few years. They ended up missing the playoffs, losing the division to the Steelers, and that marked the end of John Harbaugh's tenure in Baltimore. Now they have hired Minter to be the new head coach and he should help improve that defense which was terrible last season even though they had a ton of talent. The offense still has plenty of talent too and they are always going to be a threat offensively with a healthy Lamar Jackson leading the charge. Meanwhile, the Colts had an 8-9 record overall last season too and they collapsed in the 2nd half of the season. They were one of the best team's in the NFL in the 1st half, but they started to pick up key injuries late in the year and that led to a bad losing streak which put them under .500 and saw them miss the playoffs. They are running back that same offense with Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor, but they do have some new pass catchers. The defense was also an issue last season though, getting worse throughout the year, and they are going to have to do a lot to improve on that end. The Colts will be looking to get off to a hot start this season again, but the Ravens will also be looking for a hotter start under their new head coach and they aren't going to take this 1st game for granted with all of their key players healthy again. The Ravens are the more talented team here, still with the potential to be a Super Bowl contender, so look for Minter to make a statement with the team in his debut here. The best way to place a bet here is on the Ravens to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"Jake's just kind of been on the radar, and he's a guy that's had success in this league. Really just felt like adding a guy — and it's whatever's best for the team at that particular moment. So we added a guy to compete on the practice squad and kind of see how it shakes out." - Jesse Minter on adding Jake Moody to the practice squad.

"I thought he did some good things through camp. He's continued to develop and grow and learn and continue to get better, and same thing with Riley.” - Shane Steichen on picking Anthony Richardson to be the backup QB this season.
