Diagnosing AFC win totals this season could be especially challenging because the conference is loaded with legitimate contenders, improving young teams and several franchises undergoing major transitions. There may be only a narrow separation between a division champion and a team that misses the playoffs, making strength of schedule, quarterback health and performance in one-score games increasingly important.
The AFC’s established powers still set the standard, but none enters the season without concerns. Coaching changes, roster turnover and difficult schedules could make it harder for last year’s best teams to duplicate their records. Meanwhile, emerging clubs with talented young quarterbacks and upgraded defenses are positioned to close the gap quickly.
The conference’s depth also creates a mathematical problem for bettors: every victory one competitive AFC team earns becomes a loss for another. Even a strong roster can finish below its projected total if it plays in a rugged division or draws an unforgiving slate of conference opponents.
Several teams also carry tight numbers in the seven-to-nine-win range, where one injury, turnover or late-game decision can determine an entire wager. With so many evenly matched teams and few obvious rebuilding projects, evaluating these totals requires more than comparing rosters. Bettors must account for schedule difficulty, coaching continuity, regression and each team’s realistic margin for error.
That being said, here are my three strongest AFC win-total projections for the 2026 season - ALL OVERS - with the order reflecting confidence and betting value.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars Over 8.5 wins
Jacksonville does not need to duplicate last season’s surprising 13-4 record; it only needs nine victories. The Jaguars return 20 starters from a team that finished in the top 10 on both offense and defense, while Trevor Lawrence enters his second season in Liam Coen’s system. Travis Hunter’s anticipated Year 2 improvement provides additional upside.
Regression is reasonable after Jacksonville benefited from favorable results in close games, but a four- or five-win collapse is being baked into this number. The Jaguars possess quarterback stability, roster continuity and enough defensive talent to remain in the AFC South race. Over 8.5 is my strongest AFC win-total position, although the current price around -140 is approaching its limit. Current Jacksonville outlook and odds
2. Buffalo Bills Over 10.5 wins
Josh Allen has led Buffalo to at least 11 victories in six consecutive seasons, making this one of the NFL’s most dependable regular-season profiles. The promotion of Joe Brady creates less offensive disruption than a typical coaching change because Allen already knows the system.
Buffalo also upgraded Allen’s receiving corps by acquiring DJ Moore, who joins Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid. Defensively, Bradley Chubb adds another proven pass-rushing threat opposite Greg Rousseau. The improved supporting cast, favorable schedule and weak rebuilding teams in Miami and New York give Buffalo a legitimate path to four or five divisional victories. Bills roster and offseason additions
3. Cincinnati Bengals Over 10.5 wins
This is the most aggressive selection, but plus money around +115 makes it attractive. Cincinnati was 5-3 with a healthy Joe Burrow last season, and its elite offensive core remains intact with Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown.
The difference is a reconstructed defense. Cincinnati added Dexter Lawrence II, Jonathan Allen and Bryan Cook after finishing 29th in yards allowed per pass and 31st in yards allowed per rush. Those additions should prevent the defense from wasting so many strong offensive performances. Cincinnati also benefits from the AFC North’s only significant coaching continuity and one of the league’s most favorable schedules. The offensive line and Burrow’s durability remain the principal concerns, but the ceiling is 12 or 13 victories.
